Florencia Ribero, Soprano, was born in Uruguay and holds a degree in Sociology from the University of the Republic. In 2012, she began her music studies at the Escuela Nacional de Arte Lírico in Montevideo. There she trained with Teacher Rita Contino and was also a student of teacher Eiko Senda.
In 2014, she won category A of the Juventudes Musicales del URUGUAY International Competition, performing 2 full-house concerts at the SODRE Nelly Goitiño Auditorium. She participated in the Festival La escena Vocal in 2015 as a student of the masterclass of the Russian soprano Yana Ivanylova. She also participated in master classes with international singers Nancy Fabiola Herrera and Erwin Schrott. She sang as a choreuta at the Teatro Solis for the productions of Elixir de Amor and I Capuletti e Montechi under the direction of Maestro Ignacio Pilone, with whom she also trained in repertoire. She performed several concerts as a soloist, always accompanied on piano by the talented young Maestra Mariana Airaudo. Singing teacher at the prestigious Valeria Lima Singing School, she also participated as a chorus girl in the show dedicated to the women of Valeria Lima directed by Franco Polimeni at the Solis Theater. She has also been recognized in the field of popular music as a member of a vocal quintet with the artist Mariana Labrada Cary. She actively participated in the Tuesday On Fire cycle of Francisco Fattoruso where she sang alongside great talents of Uruguayan and international music: Camila Spain, Julieta Rada, Nicolás & Martin Ibarbouru, Jorge Drexler and Fito Páez.
She debuted as a Soloist in 2013 with the character Antonelli from the Zarzuela El duo de la Africana at SODRE, being part of an outstanding cast of ENAL students. From then on, she always had a solo role in all the operas organized by ENAL: The Merry Widow by Lehar and Donna Elvira from Mozart’s Opera Don Giovanni. Co-founder of the independent production company “Dos orillas” together with Paula
Alba and the famous Argentine actress Patricia Palmer. With this production company they performed concerts and masterclasses in Montevideo and Buenos Aires together with Maestra Susana Cardonnet. They also made the production of Lucía de Lammermour and Viuda Alegre at the AMIA Theater in Buenos Aires. In 2016 she was in Rotterdam, studying at the prestigious CodArts conservatory. In 2017, she moved to Buenos Aires after winning a place at the Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón through audition. There she trained with Alejandra Malvino, Susana Frangi and Felipe Hirschfeldt.
Florencia Ribero also specialized in Argentine chamber repertoire with Maestro Tomas Ballicora and took repertoire classes with Maestra María Inés Natalucci. She participated in master classes with the prestigious stage director Marcelo Lombardero. Her debut at the Teatro Colón was singing Selva Morale e Spirituale by Monteverdi in 2018.
She was the protagonist at the Empire Theatre, in the role of Ñeca in the world premiere of Martin Palmieri’s Opera Stefano directed by Pablo Boggiano and produced by Fundación Lyric Soul. She also starred in the Opera La Calisto in the role of Giunone with the company Ópera Periferica.
She currently resides in Portugal where she won the 2020 Musical Projects Contest of the Fundação
CulturSintra and as a result periodically performs concerts at the Quinta de la Regaleira Palace, also being in charge of its artistic production. Ms. Ribero reached the semifinal of the International competitions of Alicante (2019) and Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla (2022). Besides being a finalist of the renowned Talent show “Got Talent Portugal” she is involved in her Street Ópera project that seeks to bring opera to unconventional spaces in an accessible way. She is part of the film “Discovering José Padilla”, a biography about the Spanish composer, where she participated as a singer with international artists such as José Carreras and María José Montiel. Florencia Ribero is also featured on the web series “People of Lisbon” by Stephen O’Regan and TAP Portugal.
She recently won a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Vincero Academy online program for young opera singers, where she is preparing two opera roles (Musetta from La Boheme and Countess from Le nozze di Figaro) and was also invited to sing at the Carnegie Hall in New York in the next season (January 2024). She participated as a student in the prestigious Bologna International Opera Academy Summer Program 2022. Next to a curator of the Domingos de Ópera project at the Fabrica Braço de Prata Cultural Center in Lisbon, she is also the vocal coach of the “singers” of the National Lottery of Portugal and works as a singing teacher at the Telheiras Music Academy of the international production company Clave de Soft. She has participated as a singer in the Livro de Lisboa Fair organized by the Lisbon Municipal Chamber since 2019. She participated in the VINDOURO 2022 event singing for Marcelo Sousa, the President of Portugal, and represented URUGUAY in several events of the House of Latin America in Portugal.
She was recently selected for the Berlin Ópera Academy 2023 and made her debut as a chorister of the Opera La Traviata at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona with the Novaria Production Company.
Upcoming commitments: debut of the role Minerva from Orpheus in the Underworld by Offenbach in Berlin in July 2023 and the debut of Miss Jessel from the opera “Another Turn of the Screw” by Britten at the CCB in Lisbon.
